Coolant System Controllers

Controllers for non-PWM electric coolant pumps.

Controller for a non-PWM cooling system pump.

Features:

  • Instant On – The instant this device is activated by the ignition it is doing its job, no waiting for the stupid thing to initialize.
  • Manual Override – A switch that will ground the control relay, even if there is no power to the controller.
  • Slow Pulsing (variable) of the coolant pump – Allows the engine to warm up and stay warm in colder environments, no need to block your radiator.
  • Open sensor detection – If the wire to the thermistor gets broken, the relay will be activated and the red LED on the board will turn on.
  • Fail On design – As much as possible, this device is designed to fail with the pump and fan(s) On
  • Developed and tested in the grueling environment of Endurance Road Racing.

This controller only has a connection for a coolant pump relay, it does not control fans or other devices.  A thermistor attached to the engine is required for temperature sensing, the design is for a 10 kOhm  resistance when the engine is at operating temperature, decreasing as it gets warmer.  The coolant pump relay will pulse on and off when the temperature sensor is below the set point.  Both the on time and off time can be changed independently.
